On Wednesday, 6th September, Director Michael Stack and his manager, Nadine Jones, were invited to attend The Federation of Small Businesses “Women in Business in Parliament” networking event, which was held at the Houses of Parliament.
Speaking at the event was Helen Walbey, founder and Managing Director of Recycle Scooters, the only woman owned and led scrap yard in the UK. Helen has run her own business since 2004, trading bike parts online as a way to make ends meet after her husband had been seriously injured in an accident at work. Today her company trades parts internationally, and has a number of major contracts.
Government research suggests one in five small or medium-sized businesses are led by women – and FSB surveys show increasing numbers of women owning small firms in retail, the hotel industry, catering and leisure.
FSB is working with the Government to make sure female entrepreneurs have the support they need to start or grow their business.
